Before entering politics, Ali Anwar spent years in journalism and was awarded the prestigious KK Birla Foundation Fellowship (1996) for his research on Bihar’s Dalit and Pasmanda Muslims. He has authored several books on Pasmanda politics, including ‘Masawat Ki Jung’ and ‘Sampoorn Dalit Andolan: Pasmanda Tasawwur’.
